TAWOPANEH DEVELOPMENT ALLIANCE VISITS ROBEHNEH VILLAGE FARMS AHEAD OF
2025 RICE HARVEST
On a recent field visit, members of the Tawopaneh Development Alliance including representatives from Freetown traveled to Robehneh Village in Kambia District to assess the progress of ongoing agricultural operations. The team visited two major sites: a 40-acre rice farm and a 10-acre watermelon field, both of which are part of the Alliance’s rural development initiative.
The purpose of the visit was to observe firsthand how farming activities are progressing and to engage with local farmers on challenges and opportunities. The 2025 rice crop is nearing harvest, and the team was pleased to see the fields lush and well-maintained, signaling a promising yield. The watermelon farm also showed healthy growth, with vines spreading across the acreage and fruit maturing steadily.
During the visit, discussions were held with farm operators and community
members about improving productivity, enhancing irrigation systems, and
exploring market access for the upcoming harvest. The team also reviewed photos
documenting the farming activities, which highlighted the dedication and hard
work of those involved.
This visit was not only productive but also inspiring. It reinforced the
Alliance’s commitment to supporting sustainable agriculture and empowering
rural communities. Plans were discussed to expand operations, introduce new
crop varieties, and strengthen logistics for transporting produce to urban
markets.
The Tawopaneh Development Alliance continues to play a vital role in
transforming Robehneh Village into a hub of agricultural excellence. With the
2025 rice harvest approaching, the team looks forward to celebrating the fruits
of collective effort and planning the next phase of growth.
